With any website you have 2 ongoing costs - domain name renewal and web hosting. A website cannot exist without either.

Here at Yellow Tie, we make it easy - if you renew your web hosting with us, we will include FREE renewal of any .co.uk domain name you have with us! Obviously, if the domain used on your hosting is registered elsewhere, you will renew with the existing registering company, with no renewal payment to us.

We also provide 6 months FREE web hosting with all new websites. You can renew the web hosting with us.

Nb. At the end of 6 months you are free to shop around for alternative web hosting packages with other companies - you are not tied to us.

CAN I TAKE ADVANTAGE OF YOUR HOSTING PACKAGES FOR AN EXISTING WEBSITE OR WITHOUT HAVING YOU BUILD OUR WEBSITE?
Of course, our Web Hosting packages are available for any website, whether Yellow Tie has built it or not. We aim to provide top quality hosting packages and they would suit any website currently on the internet - at a price that suits too!

I SUPPOSE YOU CHARGE FOR TRANSFERRING MY WEBSITE IN THOUGH FROM MY EXISTING HOST?
ABSOLUTELY NOT - we are well aware, some companies do this and try and hide their real charges. Yellow Tie doesn't, the price you see is the price you pay. Once you have purchased any hosting package, there would be no other charge for transferring your website to our hosting.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO REGISTER A DOMAIN NAME?
We provide a FREE .co.uk domain name with all our Web Hosting purchases. However, we can registered other domain names, such as .com, .net, .biz, .info, .org or .name domains from just £10 per year.

All domains can be quoted on request.

CAN I HOST INTERNATIONAL DOMAINS?
Yes, we currently have clients that use .ca, .il, .tc, .nu, .ve, and many other international domain names. These will be quoted upon request.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO BUILD A WEBSITE?
We have set prices for our E-commerce webstores, depending on the style and a 3-page Information Site Package. For custom built websites, the cost is dependant on your requirements. We would collate your exact requirements and supply a quote. As long as your requirements do not change, we would guarantee this as a fixed price.

HOW DO I UPDATE MY WEBSITE OR CAN YELLOW TIE DO THIS FOR ME?
If you want to update your own website from time to time then you will need a basic knowledge of web design, website editing software such as Dreamweaver and an FTP program such as CUTE or Tearrapin to upload the changes to the Internet. If however, you cause erros or problems with your site while doing this, Yellow Tie will not be held accountable. We will of course do our best to fix any problems, but we will charge for this at a rate of £25 per hour. If you attempt any changes yourself, please make sure that you create a backup of your site beforehand - this can be done easily from your control panel.

We at Yellow Tie will be more than happy to quote for any future updates to your site, again at an hourly rate of £25, however, with a minimum cost of £50.

Alternatively, if your site is likely to need regular updates, we would recommend that you add a Content Management System (CMS) to your site which allows you to easily make updates online without any web design knowledge or extra software.

HOW DO I ACCESS MY CONTROL PANEL?
You will be provided with a dedicated domain for accessing your Control Panel. And your account will be accessed by a unique password. You will be supplied all details upon order completion.

CAN I FTP INTO MY ACCOUNT?
Yes, you will need an FTP program such as Terrapin FTP, Cute FTP or WS_FTP. All the settings for your account will be advised within your Control Panel.

IS THERE ANY HELP IN USING MY CONTROL PANEL?
Yes, we provide you with a massive online Support Database, with answers to just about every question possible. This is constantly reviewed and updated as required. We are also only at the end of an email too.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE FOR MY DNS CHANGES TO UPDATE?
Normally you can expect to see your web site DNS to change within 24 hours once you have made the modifications at your registrar. However, we have seen it take up to 7 days in some cases where registrars and ISPs are a little slower.

We utilise a multi-homed network utilising BGP4 technology, simply put we have multiple connections to the Internet with different backbone providers, should any connection fail our other connections automatically take all the traffic. Not only does this mean that we are very unlikely to lose connectivity to the Internet but it also means that traffic moving to and from our network can choose from a range of paths to get to its final destination, this means that we have been able to configure the network to always take the fastest paths.

We use only Dell servers in our web hosting platform, utilising state-of-the-art technology we have built a web hosting platform that is second to none. Our platform is designed in such a way that if any server fails another server automatically and without delay takes over that servers workload. For example if one of our mail servers were to break down, another server would automatically come online, with all the correct configuration and take over the work of the failed server. OUR DATA CENTRE:
The data centre features top-of-the-line security systems, closed-circuit cameras, security patrols and restricted floor access. Uniquely positioned in the building and in the market.

POWER SUPPLY AND BACK UP:
Each rack has two independent power feeds, fed from two diverse connections to the national grid.

Should one or both of these feeds fail 4 x 300kVA Riello UPS (N+1) battery backup systems will cover immediate power requirements. All power to the cabinets is supplied via the UPS to maintain clean supply to the servers.

If mains power is not restored within 10 seconds 3 x N+1 diesel powered generators will start providing full continuous power to the data centre.

Spare fuel for the generators is stored on-site and contracts are in place with fuel companies to deliver continuous emergency fuel for a virtually unlimited amount of time.

FIRE SUPPRESSION:
Fire protection is provided by the FM200 Fire Suppression System which fills the sealed data centre with gas to extinguish any fire quickly without the use of water and without damage to any equipment.

CLIMATE CONTROL:
The data centre is fully climate controlled with N+1 Stultz DX Cybercool Air Conditioning Systems. The system monitors and controls the temperature and humidity levels.

Drip sensors located below floor monitor for any leaks in the system. Cold air is forced underneath raised flooring into the bottom of each server rack, and vacuumed out of the top providing maximum cooling efficiency. The position of each server rack/apparatus is calculated by a dedicated deployment team to further optimise cooling efficiency.

SERVER CABINETS:
46u high 1500mm wide x 1000mm deep, cable management system and 80% mesh doors. Cabinets are kept locked at all times.

SECURITY:

CCTV - The data centre is monitored by cctv both externally and internally. All CCTV images are recorded and stored for 3 months.

SECURITY FENCE - The building is surrounded by a 8ft perimeter fence. gates are locked outside of normal business hours.

SECURE FOB ACCESS - There are two locking doors to go through for access to each of the separate data halls within DC2. These are locked and can only be opened using Secure Fobs which are only held by named staff.
